About Us
This platform forms part of the UNESCO Yangon’s efforts to strengthen teacher quality and professional development through alignment with the Myanmar Teacher Competency Standards Framework (MTCSF). Developed under the technical leadership of the UNESCO Antenna Office in Yangon, the MTCSF outlines the professional competencies, knowledge, skills, and dispositions expected of teachers throughout their careers. As a key reference for teacher professional development, the framework supports the delivery of quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all learners.
The Myanmar Teacher Platform (MTP) is a safe, secure, and inclusive digital space designed for teachers, teacher educators, and student teachers (trainee teachers). Aligned with the MTCSF, the platform provides access to professional learning opportunities, high quality resources, and collaborative networks that support continuous professional development and improved teaching practice. The platform comprises:
1. E-Learning: A free online learning environment offering both synchronous and asynchronous courses. Modular courses are available at different levels to meet the needs of diverse learners, covering topics ranging from pre-service teacher education to in-service professional development. Learners can engage with peers through discussion boards and earn certificates upon successful completion of courses.
2. E-Library: A digital library containing more than 700 learning resources, including e-books, videos, and other educational materials. Fully integrated with the e-learning courses, the e-library supports a seamless and enriched learning experience.
3. Blogs: Blogs are developed bite sized with digestible content and regularly updated blog posts linked to the MTCSF, the Teachers in Crisis Contexts (TiCC) Training Pack, and courses across the Myanmar Teacher Platform. These blogs provide practical insights, professional guidance, and strategies to help educators address challenges and advance their professional growth.
4. Professional Learning Groups: Interactive spaces where educators can discuss topics by themes, exchange experiences, share good practices, and learn from peers and experienced teachers. These groups foster professional networking, collaboration, and peer learning and also promote community of practices.
Collectively, the above features provide educators with a dynamic environment for continuous learning, professional collaboration, and career development. The Myanmar Teacher Platform is more than a learning portal. It is a vibrant professional community where educators can enhance their knowledge, develop new skills, and connect with peers across Myanmar. By engaging with the platform’s courses, resources, discussions, and professional learning groups, teachers can strengthen their practice, expand their professional networks, and play an active role in advancing quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all learners.
