Course Description

This course is a part of "Year 1 Semester 2 E-Learning Course for Teacher Educators - Pre-service Teacher Education Programme".

Year 1 Semester 2 E-Learning Course for Teacher Educators - Pre-service Teacher Education Programme is organised into the following modules:

• Module 1: Learning Outcomes, Success Criteria and SMART Learning Outcomes
• Module 2: Planning Effective Teaching
• Module 3: Inclusive Practice in the Classroom
• Module 4: Assessment Approaches
• Module 5: Inclusive Assessment and Assessment Rubrics

In this course, we will study Module 5, which covers the following topics.

Module 5.1. Marking Assessment

• Types of assessment tasks
• Purpose of assessment 
• Success criteria and marking guidelines 
• Rubric

Module 5.2. Inclusive Assessment Practices

• What is inclusive assessment?
• Inclusive assessment examples
• Inclusive assessment and special education needs (SEN).

Course Objectives

After completing this course, teacher educators will be better equipped with the competencies to effectively deliver the Pre-service Teacher Education Year 1 Semester 2 curriculum.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this course, teacher educators will be able to

• develop rubrics and use them for marking assessments;
• identify appropriate ways of marking assessment types depending on purpose;  
• explain the relationship between assessment purpose, success criteria and marking guidelines;
• identify inclusive assessment practices; and 
• adapt assessment tools in different subject areas to be more inclusive.
