This course is designed to learn and master about teaching of English at the primary school level. In this course, you will find essential information about teaching and learning English concerned with primary level curriculum, different kinds of effective learning activities and additional resources to be mastery in the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for becoming a proficient English teacher in Myanmar. This course includes extended knowledge about Basic Education primary curriculum, incidental concepts deal with the nature of language learners at primary school level, indispensable information about language pedagogy and techniques of teaching different language skills, powerful strategies to integrate culture into language teaching, and important ideas of assessment types and how to give effective feedback at the primary level. This course covers the following modules:

It will equip you to be mastery of a variety of systematic strategies and techniques for teaching English at the Primary School Level. Moreover, it will upgrade your proficiency levels dealing with teaching and learning English.

By the end of this module, you will be able to –
  • Identify the nature of listening and common listening theories; 
  • Analyse some considerations in teaching listening at the primary level;
  • Select appropriate techniques to teach listening skills to young learners at primary level;
  • Construct different tasks to teach listening skills to young learners at primary school level;
  • Apply suitable teaching strategies by grade level when teaching listening in the primary English classroom;
  • Identify the nature of speaking and common speaking theories; 
  • Analyse some considerations in teaching speaking at the primary school level;
  • Select appropriate techniques to teach speaking skills to young learners at primary school level;
  • Construct different tasks to teach speaking skills to young learners at primary school level;
  • Apply suitable teaching strategies by grade level when teaching speaking in the primary English classroom;
  • Analyse the objectives of teaching listening and speaking in Primary School;
  • Select appropriate songs and rhymes when integrating literature in teaching English at the primary school level;
