Course Description

The new pre-service teacher education curriculum is designed to make best use of ICT across all subjects and hence Non-ICT teacher educators in Education Degree Colleges (EDCs) need to acquire basic ICT proficiency to be able to teach their subject successfully. This course is designed to introduce non-ICT Teacher Educators to the theories and concepts for ICT-pedagogy integration that support effective lesson planning in order to enhance teaching and learning experience and outcomes with appropriate use of technology. To integrate ICT when planning a lesson, Teacher Educators should be able to use available and relevant ICT tools and know when and how to integrate them in their lessons. 

Course Objectives

This course will prepare Teacher Educators with ICT competencies to be able to use available and relevant ICT tools and know when and how to integrate them when planning a lesson. 

Learning Outcomes

1) Discuss components of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPCK or TPACK) framework;

2) Identify examples of ICT integration at the different levels of the Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition (SAMR) model;

3) Understand the A.S.S.U.R.E. approach to teaching and learning; and

4) Apply the concepts of ASSURE approach to create a lesson plan
