Course Description

This online course offers teachers an introduction to financial literacy, which includes the basics of personal finance (budgeting, saving, and managing money), the fundamentals of credit, and some aspects of investing. Course takers will learn how to make informed financial decisions that support long-term stability by engaging in hands-on exercises and receiving real-life examples presented through interactive learning methodologies. Intended for teachers, this course teaches strategies so that they can make informed financial decisions in their lives, achieve financial goals, and improve their quality of life.

Course Objectives

This course provides knowledge and skills necessary for teachers to be successful in their finances and in teaching financial literacy to students, setting them on a path of responsible money management and making personal finance decisions that lead to long-term sustainability.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to

  • Explain three ways that financial literacy helps people manage income, expenses, and savings, as well as how it can prevent debt and support financial goals;
  • Make a personal monthly budget that shows income and expenses, focusing on essential needs and setting a saving goal;
  • Review local savings, investment, or insurance options in Myanmar and describe one way to reduce risks for long-term financial security;
  • Provide practical examples of how you would apply the principles for responsible credit and loan management in a real-life scenario;
  • Explain practical strategies for protecting yourself against financial fraud in Myanmar (such as phishing, Ponzi schemes, and credit card fraud); and
  • Demonstrate an interactive teaching method that makes financial concepts understandable and relevant to Myanmar students, targeting skills in budgeting or saving.
