Course Description

This course, Conducting Classroom Action Research, is designed for educators to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills to effectively implement and enhance action research in the classroom. This course emphasizes the importance of the role of teacher reflection, self-awareness, and analytical skills in identifying and addressing gaps in pedagogical practices to develop an effective action research plan. Course Objectives

This course aims to provide educators with a comprehensive understanding of action research as a practical, reflective process in education. It equips teachers with skills to create and sustain engaging and supportive learning environments that cater to bridging gaps in teaching and learning. Educators will learn to design and implement a context-based action research plan to target specific issues following the SMART plan and Action Research Cycle. By the end of the course, educators will be able to develop ideas to integrate action research into a practicum portfolio.

Recognize the purpose of action research as a reflective tool for improving teaching practices;
Develop skills in reflection, self-awareness, analysis, and collaboration essential for effective action research;

Recognize the context-based nature of action research and identify situations where it can be effectively applied;
Understand and describe the cyclical process of action research;
Apply the action research cycle to structure an inquiry process focused on improving educational practices;
Use SMART goals to define clear, achievable objectives within their action research plan;
Visualize the components of an action research plan in a structure format;
